About the event
This training will go over some of the basics of what it means to be a nonprofit organization from a structure and accounting point of view. The intent is that board and staff will be able to leave with an understanding of how to look at their financial reports and good questions to ask of their organizations. We'll cover the following topics:
- What does Tax-Exempt mean (at the federal and state level)
- Nonprofit financial statements and revenue types
- Board fiduciary responsibilities
- Audit and 990 Overview
Each of these topics could be an entire class of its own, so we'll be taking a higher level view. If you have more detailed questions for your own organizations, I'll be happy follow-up after the class to go into more depth.
This class is a good fit for accounting staff new to nonprofits, new board members, and other staff with an interest in understanding more about nonprofit reporting.
